Bye Bye Kelly_Jackson88

Among the things I worry about, I have to say being hacked was down at the very bottom of my list.

I worry about the normal things, like my bus being late, or the moon (I watched a documentary once about how much we need the moon and it scared me so much I like to check it’s still there now and again).

So when I logged onto my Gmail Tuesday afternoon, imagine how shocked I was to see that someone had hacked into my Gmail, and my twitter that I had spent four years building and use for business purposes.

Not only was I disappointed that it had taken me so long to build up, but I was also incredibly disappointed, as I am not sad enough to call people I have never met ‘Friends’ but I had built a genuine little community and really enjoyed talking to certain people.

I spent the best part of Wednesday and Thursday being, for want of a better expression a bit of a miserable slag. The problem does look like it will be resolved, but Friday I came to an optimistic decision.

My old Twitter account was 4/5 years old, so without me knowing how to clear up inactive followers when I started it, there were quite a lot on that old account. This gave way to literally anyone who disagreed with me to compile a Twitter audit and accuse me of ‘buying followers’ (FYI I prefer to spend my money on cases of prosecco).

I also gained quite a few trolls along the way, and couldn’t help replying to them, which on my part isn’t very professional.

So here i was Friday, getting some bits together and starting the first makings of my new company, Hashtag Social Media, and I really sat down and thought about it. What a GREAT opportunity for a fresh start. No inactive followers, no trolls, just people who enjoy my content. I also now have the opportunity to be a bit more professional and link my account to my company, which will be launching soon.

So goodbye @Kelly_Jackson88. when I do retrieve you, I will be respectfully deleting you. Thank you for everything, but now is my time to shine and show all the haters, that I am just genuinely that good at social media that I can build a following through my content alone.

  2. Dear Kelly, It isn’t “your” Twitter account, it belongs to Twitter. Security is minimal on it. Pleading Not Guilty to this one.

    1. That as may be, but it certainly wasn’t Twitter who spent 4 years of their time building the account.
