If there’s one thing I’ve learned in blogging, it’s DEFINITELY don’t get involved in blogging about things you know nothing about. so a song release on Soundcloud by a rock band is probably the last thing you expect to see on my blog. However, one little known fact about this sober Essex girl, is actually that my first foray into blogging was reviewing rock bands and gigs.

Yes, despite the fact most of the time I’m capitulated into the ‘Essex Glam’ venues where I spend the evening drinking prosecco and listening to shit deep house, I’m actually happiest when I’m sticking to the floor in the Pink Toothbrush listening to The Smiths and Joy Division.

So rather than going into a massive ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover rant’, lets just talk about The Uppercuts.

The Uppercuts remind me, of when music was good. When I say that, I mean before I was born. When we had The Jam, The Clash, The Smiths and all of the other bands that actually made real, un-generic music that rocked out AND said something.

‘Get Up’ absolutely reminds me of every sweaty, beer soaked gig I have been to loving life while having the armpit of my neighbour shoved in my face because I insisted on getting to the front (to this day one of my special talents is getting to the front at gigs – enquire within). It’s so bouncy, not only can you dance to it but you can also sufficiently mosh and get away with pushing the person next to you that’s been doing your head in all night under guise of ‘getting too into the moment’.

As well as giving everyone a little sneak of this BEFORE the double A side is officially released, they are playing a gig at the O2 Academy Islington on the 23rd October.

I’m going so I’d love to see you all there!
