Coffee Camp: A Guide To Upping Your Beverage Game

Just like baseball camp or fat camp, I think some people could benefit from going to coffee camp. Why do I say this? Because there are still folks out there that are making terrible hot beverages. They are scolding the grounds when they make coffee, or adding milk in green tea, Or worse still using that instant stuff! Yuk! So if you don’t want to end up drinking substandard drinks your whole life, then follow the advice below. Then you’ll be able to get the perfect cup every time.

Tea is a very popular hot beverage in the world, and it pretty much a British institution. I can count on the finger of one hand the number of people I know that don’t enjoy a good cuppa first thing in the morning to wake them up.

But how can you make sure that you are getting the best tea possible? Well, first of all, ditch the tea bags, loose leaf in the way to go. This allows the tea to infuse much better in the water.

Then make your tea in a warmed pot. Add hot water to the pot and swill it out, then empty it, add the tea and then more hot water. This allows the tea to reach brewing temperature quicker and release all those delicious flavours.

Of course, when pouring the tea, you should pour in the milk first to prevent scalding it.

Getting a proper cup of coffee is also akin to an art form and can take some serious dedication and training to achieve. However, there are lots of small ways that you can improve the quality your cup. For example, make sure that you are using fresh beans. Older beans tend to taste stale and lose their aromatic flavour thus resulting in a pouring quality beverage.

Also, it best to use a proper machine for making your brew. Instant coffees seem appealing and convenient, but it is nowhere near the standard of a properly ground and brewed cup of coffee.

Some people have been put off coffee machines because they fear they will break down and are expensive to replace. But it is so easy to get replacement parts for top brands like La Marzocco online so that this isn’t really a problem at all anymore.

Hot Chocolate

Please, please, please,  stop adding hot chocolate powder to warm water! This is not a real hot chocolate in mine or anyone else’s books and all you will be doing in putting yourself off the genuine stuff.

Instead take a little time a are to create a masterpiece in a mug, if only occasionally, and you won’t be sorry.

Of course, people that suffer from allergies and IBS like myself can often ‘come a cropper’ with hot chocolate. This is because of it high milk content, but it is possible to get a great cup out of the nondairy milk now.

For example, you can use almond milk heated in a pan. Then dissolve some dairy free grated chocolate, cocoa powder and flavouring like orange essence or vanilla to give it that luxe kick. Yum!
