Finding A Therapist With Click For Therapy

When I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression I couldn’t imagine telling some of the people close to me let alone sharing it with the thousands of strangers who read my blog. But as I started to get better I noticed how useful it was to me to read about other peoples experiences and how they found ways to help their situation. I’ve written a couple of blogs that relate to small fixes, but now have come off of my medication I am always seeking new things to try to make sure I do not relapse back into depression and a high state of anxiety.

The correct pathway for a diagnosis of depression is to be assessed then referred for therapy. If you do or do not decide to try medication this is still offered to you. The free therapy offered can often have incredibly high waiting lists and private therapy is incredibly expensive. My issue was neither of these things; I just didn’t have the time. That may sound bad because after all, it is my health, but honestly I didn’t. I find it hard to take the time to go to the Doctors if there is something physically wrong with me let alone setting aside time to find a counsellor I like.

One thing I found the hardest about trying to choose a therapy was trying to find the right therapist for what I needed. A therapist isn’t just a standard therapist. There are loads of different types of therapy some of which work better with certain conditions than others. This is another reason the standard NHS therapy not really being very person centred. A quick web search directed me to Click For Therapy which sounded like a great idea in theory but I was still convinced the therapists would be way out of my price range. We aren’t rich just yet huns.

How it works is so simple. You put in your postcode and you get a list of all the places near you that are appropriate to what you want, but if you are not sure specifically you can just select ‘counselling’ and see how you get on with that. I found a couple that were actually close enough for me to get to using the train ticket I buy monthly for work anyway.  So then it was just down to the cost and the whole finding the time situation.

I clicked through to the website of one of the search results and was pleasantly surprised to see that their most expensive session was £30 which really isn’t too bad on the face of things. They also offered help to people not in work and a case by case assessment if someone was really desperate and couldn’t afford to pay. Scanning round a couple more I noticed that a few of them were also open on weekends which was perfect.

After honestly thinking I would never get around to finding therapy and actually booking it, I’m really glad I stumbled across this website as I know now I can  find myself a therapist super quickly.
