The recent Coronavirus situation has meant that we all had to spend more time in our homes, and because of this, a lot of people have been looking to see where they can make improvements. I’ve seen people do some wonderful things to their homes over the last few months, but sprucing up your home doesn’t have to be a massive undertaking. There are a few things you can do to the front of your house that will transform it, which is great because the front of your house is the first thing people see.
Get a resin driveaway
Resin driveways are becoming increasingly popular, and there are plenty of Resin Driveway Companies that will update your driveway for you. The good thing about resin is that it is completely permeable to air and water so it will last longer than a “traditional” driveway. You will also find resin is a lot more low maintenance and hard-wearing. You can also pick different designs that fit the overall “theme” of the front of your house.
Spring clean your front door
A lot of front doors are uPVC nowadays, which is great for you because they tend to last longer than wood, but also not so much if you want to keep the front of your house clean, as they tend to collect dust. To keep your front door clean, follow the below steps:
- dust the front door first with a rag or duster
- clean the door gently with fairly liquid
- dry with a paper towel or a cloth
Keep your lawn tidy
Some people are lucky enough to have huge spaces at the front of their houses with driveways and lawns. A lot of us tend to let the lawns go during the winter when it is certainly too cold to go out and mow it, but you would be surprised how much difference simply mowing your lawn and tidying up the edges can make to the aesthetic of the front of your house. It’s always the simple things that have the biggest impact.
Add some light
Adding a porch light or two will not only make the front of your house look pleasant of an evening, but it will also be practical if you ever come home in the darker hours. I always wonder how people with really dark porches manage to get their keys in the door. If you don’t want to fuss with outdoor electrics, then you can get plenty of battery or solar-powered lights.
Clean your gutters
Truly, this is one of the more horrible jobs of being a homeowner, but again, it is always the simpler things that make the biggest impression. You can easily clean your gutters by using your hands to get the bigger blockages out and then using a hosepipe to rinse them down once you have removed leaves and debris. It might not sound like the nicest task, but it will certainly give your home more “curb appeal”.
