If you read along regularly, you’ll know I put a lot of value into the art of self-care. Buying a good sheet mask to do over the weekend is one of the little treats I allow myself because it makes me feel good. I usually go for the Garnier Moisture Bomb numbers, but I came across an Oh K Probiotic Sheet Mask in Tesco the other day and thought I’d give it a whirl. My AG1 from Athletic Greens has probiotics in it so they are a bit of a phase for me currently. Since I have been drinking my greens every morning, my skin is quite clear, but I am currently on painkillers that dry you out so I need to moisturize where possible. I had every intention of going into my office rather than working from home, so I decided to do this sheet mask the night before. Unfortunately, I was in too much pain to be able to get up to the office, but let’s face it you ALWAYS benefit from having nice smooth skin.
The sheet mask is pretty much standard size, but one thing I will warn is that it is a bit more “juicy” than other sheet masks. The majority of them are quite sloppy and drippy when you get them out of the pack, but the Oh K Probiotic Sheet Mask is a lot wetter than any I have used before. It’s worth having some paper towel handle before you apply this one, don’t just do what I did and wipe your hands on your blanket, to the point where it was still wet the next day.
Instructions on the mask say to leave it on between 10 and 20 minutes, and I am a firm believer in leaving sheet masks on as long as possible. Not only to ensure you feel the full benefit, but also because laying down for 20 minutes with a cooling sheet on your face is relaxing, and a nice little break away from day-to-day life. Like most sheet masks, the instructions on this one say when you remove it just rub in the surplus liquid that is left on your skin. Again, I found it to be a bit too wet to do so, so I just patted my face dry with some paper towel (as you can imagine, we go through a lot of paper towels in my household).
Because I pretty much went to sleep after doing the mask, I didn’t notice the effects immediately. When I woke up the next day though, I noticed that my skin was softer and firmer, and miracle of all miracles the dark bags below my eyes had become less noticeable, There is Camomile in this mask so it’s a great one for before bed, a relaxing treat. It’s a couple of days after and my skin still feels smooth, and I haven’t broken out any spots or blackheads which is something that usually happens when I use a moisturizing sheet mask.
